Just found a lump in one of my breasts while massaging. It moves and it's not near the armpit which I read are good signs but I am in sheer panic and freaking out. It's 1:30 am I definitely won't be getting much sleep. I'm scared to get this checked out but more scared not to and I'm freaking out thinking I got breast cancer from noogleberry. I've been using it consistently for 11weeks and I've been taking fenugreek which I know causes milk ducts to swell so that's a possibility. I'm 23. Still freaking out, even if it's not cancer I don't know how I can use noogleberry again without having a hypochondriac melt down. I'm not going to take anymore fenugreek hopefully it will go away. Can I have gotten breast cancer from pumping!? I'm panicking, please weigh in.

Fulfilling a dream...
First, calm down :)

Pumping will not "cause" breast cancer but it can cause temporary lumps due to hormonal changes, injury, etc. Indeed, there is lots of reasons for lumps to appear that have nothing to do with pumping. Now that you've found it, it is time to monitor the spot for a few weeks watching to changes in it.

If you haven't done this but I would do a self bread exam looking for others and you'll want to do it at AF time and two weeks later (to compare). If you have nipple discharges then I would suggest getting it examined sooner than later. It is *very* common for mild fiberous lumps to form and they can disappear after your period (my last GF had this quite often).

So, just watch it and if it doesn't disappear in the next 2-3 weeks then consulting a doctor will help with your peace of mind.

Iwilldothis,

I hope you managed to get some sleep last night :). I know how scary a lump can be but I think you need to keep in mind that you're only 23. The likelihood of it being cancer at your age is extremely low indeed. That might not be much comfort when your mind's racing, I know. Does it hurt or not? It might be a small benign cyst, or fiberous lumps like DJ mentioned.

I'd keep a very close eye on it in the next few days, but a doctor would ultimately put your fears to rest. Your health is important. I wish you well.

Hi Iwilldothis, I can understand your concerns but please be assured that firstly, breast cancer at your age is extremely uncommon. Secondly, after 10 years of producing the system we have never had anyone complain that it has caused them cancer. I am not aware of any evidence to show this. If anything , using the system is more likely to make you more aware about any lumps in the breast and to spot any early signs of trouble. So in many respects , using the system is more likely to save lives than the opposite. As it does not affect the body's hormones , it is more likely that any breast changes have been caused by taking herbs or other pills.

I hope this reassures you and please let us know the outcome.

Hello,
If you have def found a lump you need to have an MD evaluation ASAP. I do not think it is a good idea to wait, as getting a specialist appt. can take a few weeks to be seen, a couple of weeks can turn into a month or more. It most likely will be nothing to worry about. Using NB is one of the best things for your breasts as it encourages circulation of fresh blood, very healthy. You do need to be careful about over pumping. In your case," it's better to be safe than sorry." Have you ever been diagnosed with fibrocystic breasts? If so, lumps can come and go. The sooner it's checked out the sooner you will feel better. janonthemtn
