I've recently been using a cream containing azelaic acid on my face as I read that it is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. As you get older you tend to get fuzzier on the face - and this really seems to be working! It's sold as an anti-acne and rosacea treatment under the names Azaclear, Skinoren, AzClear, Finacea and others. It's not expensive.

Hope this helps someone.

azelaic acid creams are usually sold under prescription and it works by unplugging the pores which works like a charm on blackheads and whiteheads and at start of the usage it can cause skin irritation such as excessive burns, excessive itching etc.

Here in Australia it's sold over the counter, although you may be able to get stronger than 15-20% concentrations via prescription (although stronger would run more risk of skin irritation).
