Do you think it is safe to noogle? (pic included has a bra on)

Got my Noogleberry ordered and I'm hoping it comes tomorrow or Friday at the latest but in the meantime, I was wondering if anyone came across my problem and what they did about it... Or if anyone has some suggestions.

I've been using Brava for about 6 weeks now and about the first or second week in, I noticed some pain between my breasts in the sternum area. I ignored it for a few days but it kept getting worse. After taking a good look at things, I noticed a bump that kind of feels like a broken rib or something. I'm not to familiar with where the ribs might appear if they break so I'm not sure WHAT it is. I didn't notice it until I started using Brava which makes me think maybe I cracked something while pushing too hard on the Brava domes. I really doubt that though because the silicone padding is pretty thick... I suppose it could be possible.

I WAS playing a lot of sports lately like football but you would think I would have noticed if I fell and broke my sternum, lol.

What I'm wondering is if anyone has noticed something like this form after starting any pressure therapy like Brava, NB, BB, etc. I was going to just try the NB when it came and see how painful it was but I'm curious as to if anyone else ran into this problem or if I am alone.

I know the correct answer is to go see a doctor but I just don't have the time for that right now, (working some serious overtime until January), and I don't want to stop treating because that means I will have wasted the 6 weeks I've already had to endure. (And it has been rough. Not because of the sternum pain but because wearing this crap for 10 hours a day is annoying. In fact - I got the NB in the first place because I couldn't keep up the 10 hour minimum and wanted to supplement it with something during the day.)

Thank you for the feedback anyone! I've included a picture... it looks small but if you look between the breasts and a little to the right, you can see it sticking out a bit, (along with the rash I'm developing from the Brava-recommended adhesive helper. Ugh.)

Hi Michelle,

I will try and offer 2 thoughts for you. The first being that I believe that if you HAD cracked a rib, you probably would be having a fair amount of difficulty breathing. The second thing is there has been other posts about bumps(lumps) before. the last one turned out to be a cyst. In that post it was thought that pumping tended to enlarge the cyst. I believe Teeny Tiny had allot of good thoughts on this. I do think that THE best thing is to see a doctor about it. You could go on the weekend, to say , to the emergency room and have it xrayed. Anyway, a couple of thoughts. Good luck Mama J and hugs :-* :-* :-*

I would also like to add in one other possibility and sometimes this happens just in everyday life, say turn and reach for something wrong. Sometimes, you can have a rib "get out of place" It's a quick fix when that's the problem. I have one that does it all the time, since once it happens it's prone to happen again. My husband gives me a quick adjustment and it goes back in place then. Mine has never stuck out that far though.

Since there are so many things it could be I would go to the doctor. you don't have to say anythng about noogleing if you don't want to, just say what you said earlier, that you play football but think you would know if you broke something. I would think that would be more than enough explaination. That way if it is cracked, or a cyst you are getting treatment or if it's just out of place, most doctors will show you the simple technique to get it into place. Mine did.

Thank you for the responses so far. Unfortunately, I am busy pretty much all weekend as well, (until after Jan 1st). I'm in retail and working all day every day. The days I DO have off - I already have other appointments. Sure I could cancel them if it was an emergency but I'd rather not if it's no big deal. I also hate HATE emergency rooms and have no faith in those doctors to treat something like this. After hours of waiting to be seen, they will most likely just refer me to a bone specialist anyway. Meh.

I don't think it seems like a cyst. I've had a cyst before on my wrist and it was def not this hard. Maybe it is just out of place... I wonder if my chiropractor would have an idea about that... she takes walk-in visits and would only take like 15 minutes if I can just get in to see her. Maybe I will try that if I can't take the pain once the NB gets here.

Or maybe the NB won't get here until after the 1st and then I'll just go see a doc. I hope not. :( Noogleberry hurry please!

Thanks again for the responses. Would still appreciate more if anyone has extra info to share.

HI & Welcome to the forum !!!!!!!!!!!!
If time is a problem, you could allways go to an urgent care
clinic instead of the E R.
If you cracked a rib, you would be feeling a lot of pain in
your chest by now.
If it was me, I would make time to get it looked after soon.
While it might not be convient right now, if you wait it might
get worse, or take a lot longer to heal.
Just my $ 0.02 worth.
Stay safe, and have fun.

I really think you need to get it looked at professionally and then make your mind up about noogling based on facts. Sorry to be blunt but it is not worth it. please go and see someone. Sue

No need to apologize. I asked for feedback.

So it came today and I decided to take it slowly and try it out. It actually hurts less than the brava domes. I'm not sure how but less pressure seems to be put on it than with the other ones.

And I'm not even wearing the foam padded rings because they were either forgotten or shipping separate. Will have to email Lucy about that one. She's been helpful so far. Hopefully it won't be a problem.

hi, You know it could possibly be a bone spur too. the real thing is it shouldn't "hurt" when you noogle. Dear, I truly wish you would have it checked out. I worry for you. Keep us informed please. Anything that "sticks out" isn't normal. Hugs my dear Mama J :-* :-* :-*

Hiya Michelle, well, from the sternum to the ribs there is a span of cartilaginous tissue that is there for flexibility and expansion of the ribcage for breathing.
I *think* it is called Costal cartilage.
It looks like you may be having an issue with the cartilage being irritated,or the tissue around there being irritated from the pressure and fluids being pulled into the region.
Im not sure if the cartilage tissue can separate from the bone connection or not,but it may just be swollen or displaced due to the vacuum pressure.
I have light fat layer on my breastbone spot also, but Ive not had any problem with anything.

I do get pressure pain from stretched skin if I havent been doing the cups for awhile.

Does the spot move about any?

It does not move but hurts a bit when pressed on. It has been hurting less while using Brava lately and I haven't had much of a problem with the Noogleberry because I just move the cup around it.

I have to see a doctor soon for a surgery checkup so I will just ask then and let everyone know what it is in case someone else experiences this!

Hi Michelle, I have heard of a woman getting calcium buildup from using Brava, she stopped brava and it went away... what your body duz is creates this padding made of calcium to protect the bone... in your case maybe the brava domes where hurting your rib so your body is trying to protect itself.
Good luck

Thank you diosa. I read something in the brava book that also said there was a very rare chance of something like that. I kept using it and while the bump is still there, it seems slightly smaller and is no longer painful. Weird.

hey im new to NBE, but I have read a bit about brava and others that have used it, and i think2 or 3 people have had what u describe. they said they had a lump where u describe urs is, and one person thought it was soft, untill they touched it and realised it was hard.

i will try search for the post of it again. xx

here is the link to the thread, they start talking about lumps further down :

i HOPE that the thread works, do u use this forum? ( i found out about NB from it ) there are a few people on it using Brava at the mo xx

This is probably resolved but I decided to chime in anyway. When I started Brava, I would get bumps/ sensitivity in the same place: it's because the skin is so thin there. I read a good tip on brav-arg: You take a pantiiner, put it soft side down over your sternum. Then take waterproof bandage tape (the softer the better) to secure it over the area before putting on the domes. The domes will adhere to the waxy paper.

haha, thanks for the replies. I saw that panti-liner thing and gave it a try once but it didn't really work out. I don't think I understood how it was supposed to work and I didn't want to mess up my domes. Bexy, the link you gave worked and sounds similar to what I was experiencing.

The bump went away I think. I still have a lumpy breast bone but I think it may have always been like that. It doesn't stick out as much like it was though and isn't painful anymore.

My Brava pump stopped working so I started using the NB pump with the Brava domes and stopped using the ridiculous pre-wipes and not only have I stopped breaking out, (with the rash/acne), but I also get the same amount of swelling in less time because I can control how strong I pump. Just have to be careful not to pump too hard or I get hickey marks and one of my domes collapsed in on itself once so it will never be the same. :(

I still haven't had lasting results with it but now I just do it when convenient and don't worry about missing a day. If I need to be bigger for an event or something, I just make sure to pump every night a few days beforehand.

I think I'm just going to accept that my boobs are small and learn to live with it.
