Pueraria Mirifica side effects?

Pueraria Mirifica should also "Improve skin and hair", has anyone experiences something with skin and hair while taking PM?:)

there are potentially a lot of good side effects. They mean it when they say not to take with BC, however. It messed up my cycle; my period came two weeks early and stayed for two weeks! Its usually 4 days and regular. But if I didn't have a problem with this I would have con tinued.

Haven't noticed the good side effects like nice skin and nails dangit! I also haven't been real consistent in taking them. It did make my period last almost 10 days though so that sucked, when normally it's about 5, yet i'm still taking them in hopes of some growth!

I'm using one by thanyaporn herbs, supposedly has 300mgs per capsule, but after reading on forum, might only be 100mg. I'm having growth, so I don't know if it has helped, or if it's the nb.

Hooters, I started taking this same PM brand from thanyaporn last Wed. How many do you take each day? How long did you take before you start noticing it's working towards breast growth? I started taking two days before I AF came, so I can't tell yet if it will affect my cycle. I took fenugreek, MSM, and just recently stopped maca, and those three didnt affect my cycle at all. I hope this PM will not mess up my cycle. I dropped everything else, and what a relief to take just one supplement.

Puggleytheragdollcat, I looked up this brand and I think I'm going to try this after I finished the PM bottles that I have. That is if I'm going to continue with PM. How many do you take each day?

I don't notice the nice skin and nails yet as it's only been my 9th day of taking PM, but what I do notice though, blush, blush, is increased secretion. I don't need this part as so far I don't experience dryness yet, and another thing is, ah hmm, increase libido. What's up with that? I don't need this part either since it does not take much to keep me going either...Now, if all these are directed towards growing my breasts instead, that would be nice.

8 months the 1st 6 months i was taking it with BC it work ok but now on off my BC for 2 months and its working grate my monthly seem later and I do not pains like you do when you have you monthly. I take it 2x2 a day ( 2 of them 2 times a day ). I also take MSM with it do and having the best swelling. The only then I say is bad where I get my is it times time for you to get your older because I believe it come from Tideland. Also the cream and surm is not much at all for the cost not even a month. hope this helps.

puggleytheragdollcat, thanks for your response. I thought that company is US based. I'll keep that in mind if I do decide to go with this PM brand. I dropped MSM bec. I got tired of popping too many pills; almost gagged big time once and that was not pleasant at all. But maybe, I'll ease MSM back into my routine once I see if PM is working for me. So far, it's working in other areas, LOL.

hi just wanted to say to thoroughly research things before taking anything,for me I am not taking anything at the moment, as I am unsure of what I could be doing to my body, if i could mess up my hormones, and what long term damage I am doing. Im just a bit concerned about what these herbs could be doing and if they are safe. x

yes tatiana, it improve skin and hair but do you know the side effects of it.

Pueraria Mirifica Side Effects:
According to a recent study by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the only pueraria mirifica side effect occurred in women sensitive to estradiol, a predominant female sex hormone, resulting in slight headaches after use. In a 2004 study by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hat Yai Regional Hospital in Songkhla, Thailand, Subjects were pre and post­menopausal women with vasomotor symptoms, such as hot flushes and night sweats.. Thirty-seven cases were evaluated. 20 of 37 (54.1%) randomly received a dose of 50 mg/day of Pueraria mirifica (Group A), and 17 of 37 (45.9%) received 100 mg/day of Pueraria mirifica (Group B). Pueraria Mirifica Side Effects Conclusion: Pueraria mirifica, containing phytoestrogens, relatively alleviated the climacteric symptoms in perimenopausal women. While there was a slight decrease in lipoproteins and an increase in hormonal profiles, White Kwao Krua Pueraria mirifica demonstrates great promise in the treatment of climacteric symptoms among perimenopausal women.Journal of Medical Association of Thailand Warning:•Should not be used with caffeine or alcohol•Should not be used by women under the age of 20, or who have cysts, tumours, or cancers of Breasts, ovary or uterus.•Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.•Women currently taking birth control pills should consult their health care provider before taking pueraria mirifica, to avoid potential interactions that could affect the efficacy of their medication. •Taking pueraria mirifica may cause spotting as well as early or delayed periods, which "is very safe and normal."

PM made my breasts smaller because I am estrogen dominant and I wish I knew that before I started taking it.

I am so sorry to hear that! How much smaller did they become? and how long were u taking it?

I lost all my growth (2.5 cm) relatively quickly. Within 5 days of taking it, I was completely flat chested again. It did improve my nails, but did not improve my skin. It gave me horrible, cystic acne!

I am pretty sure that the loss was from PM. The only other method I was using was Noogleberry and that led to growth. As soon as I added PM, I lost the growth. I still have the acne but I think it is healing now. I couldn't stop taking PM immediately because stopping abruptly leads to messed up cycles and more bad side effects, so I halved my dosage and keep reducing it until my period starts.

I consulted with other posters, who confirmed similar experiences with PM. Those of us who are estrogen dominant do not respond to it well. I suggest finding out what your dominant hormone is before you start taking herbs, as the side effects can have negative consequences. I think Dr.Lee (just google his site), has an online test that helps you determine your dominant hormone.
